Presiding over a meeting at the National Command and Operational Center (NCOC) on Wednesday, he added that the minutes of the National Coordinating Committee meeting had corrected the need to voluntarily implement and violate security measures. Strict measures will be taken against those involved.
In this regard, all the provinces of the NCC have full support, traders will have to strictly implement the SOPs and legal action will be taken against those who do not comply. We are also going to launch effective campaigns in the media to send an effective message to the people so that they can play their role better against this disease. Talking to the Chief Secretaries, Federal Minister Asad Omar said that the trade unions had demanded that the businesses be opened and when the businesses were opened, the SOPs were not being fully implemented which was causing the spread of the virus. And now strict legal action will be taken against those who do not implement these SOPs.
Presiding over the meeting, Federal Minister Asad Omar further said that special attention was being paid to the markets, transport and industrial sectors and if hard work had to be done for the implementation of SOPs, it would not be avoided. In addition, a media campaign is being launched to educate the public about the precautionary measures against the disease so that they can be made aware of the disease and fulfill their role as members of this society. During the meeting, the Chief Secretary of Balochistan said that the spread of the virus has increased since the opening of shops and markets, however, the SOPs set up for shops are being strictly implemented and Penalties have also been imposed for non-implementation of these SOPs. However, SOPs are being set up for transport and after that the transport will be reopened.
The Chief Secretary Punjab told the meeting that when the lockdown was relaxed, there was a rush of people in the markets but it was our responsibility to protect the lives of the people and ensure implementation of SOPs. The Chief Secretary Sindh said that SOPs were being implemented through law enforcement agencies and heavy fines would be imposed on those who did not comply with them.
The Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said that the best implementation in the province has been seen in the industrial sector but in negotiations with transporters he has been asked to ensure implementation of SOPs. Chief Secretaries Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir told the meeting that SOPs were being implemented in their respective provinces. The meeting was also attended by Federal Minister for Food Syed Fakhr Imam, Federal Minister for Home Affairs Brigadier (retd) Ijaz Shah, Special Assistant for Health Zafar Mirza, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Political Relations Shahbaz Gul.
