Federal Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain has said that Pakistan has planned to manufacture medical devices and equipment as soon as the cases of Corona come to light and in a short span of time has produced many high quality products locally. They used to order 95 masks for 1100 rupees. They are making them for 90 rupees. He expressed these views while addressing a function on the occasion of an exhibition of locally manufactured medical devices and products at Comcast Headquarters on Thursday. Prime Minister Imran Khan was the chief guest at the event. Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that two cases of Corona came to light in Pakistan on February 26. At that time we were not making medical equipment and supplies. In the first week of March we made a plan in this regard.
Earlier, Pakistan was importing huge amount of medical equipment and products from abroad. Due to the outbreak of the epidemic all over the world, there was a shortage of medical equipment and products for doctors in countries like USA and France. So in this situation we tried to make these things ourselves. Today Pakistani companies are able to manufacture hand sanitizers, disinfectants, testing kits, sprays, masks and other equipments themselves. PCSIR has done a great job. We can now export hand sanitizers, ventilators. Clinical trials are underway, they will be available soon, Nest has developed testing kits, Comsats has also developed its own vanity letter, cheap and standard ventilators will be available, Pakistan said.
