An advisory issued by AICTE states that educational institutions in Azad Jammu and Kashmir have been awarded by UGC (University Grants Commission), AICTE and MCI (Medical Council of India). Therefore, students in any such college, university and technical institution should study engineering, technology, architecture, town planning, pharmacy, hotel management and catering technology, applied arts, crafts and design, management, computer application, tourism. And caution is advised in enrolling in any other course for which advisory has been issued by various other institutions.
About 25 students from Occupied Kashmir are admitted to Azad Kashmir Medical Colleges every year as six per cent quota of seats in Azad Kashmir Medical Colleges is allotted to students from Occupied Kashmir and these colleges are both Azad Kashmir University and Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. India had in May last year directed the authorities in occupied Kashmir to warn Kashmiri students to study in colleges in Azad Kashmir. The then Secretary University Grants Commission Rajneesh Jain had also issued an advisory in which the students of Occupied Kashmir were asked to refrain from enrolling in educational institutions in Azad Kashmir.
