(Latest newspaper from newstime-May 30- 2020)Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Shehzad Akbar has said that the report of the Chinese Crisis Commission against PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif and former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi is a charge sheet. Talking to reporters in Lahore, Shehzad Akbar said that Shahid Khan Abbasi gave a subsidy of Rs 20 billion on sugar to sugar mills on 24-hour notice without properly determining the production of sugar so that they could export. Citing paragraph 209, he said that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi could not give any answer in favor of the subsidy and did not produce any document.
The Special Assistant said that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was so loyal to his boss (Shahbaz Sharif) that he gave a subsidy of Rs 20 billion at the request of his nephew (Sulaiman or Hamza Shahbaz). It happens to be a loyal person. Besides, Shahzad Akbar said that the people of Sindh also contributed but I will be limited to that today. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had given permission for the export of sugar after the approval of the Economic Co-ordination Committee (ECC) and not for subsidy. Foreign exchange was needed and there was plenty of sugar that could be exported.
Shehzad Akbar said that the commission had blamed the nexus of market and sugar mills for the root cause of the sugar crisis. Asad Omar also appeared and answered all the questions. The Special Assistant also slammed PML-N President and former Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. He said that the report of the commission contained a detailed account of Shahbaz Sharif's deeds.
Shehzad Akbar said that when PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif was the Chief Minister of Punjab, under his supervision, Al-Arabiya Sugar Mills paid less than Rs1.5 billion to the farmers. Citing 119, he said that the former Punjab Chief Minister asked the farmers to submit a report to the Special Branch for transparent payment of support prize and later in the report revealed that Al-Arabiya Sugar Mills of Shahbaz Sharif family violated the rights of farmers.
Shehzad Akbar said that Shahbaz Sharif's entire family is a shareholder of Al-Arabiya Sugar Mills, the farmer and the consumer are in a bad condition but the sugar mills are happy. Al-Arabiya Sugar Mills had two ledger boxes with "N and R" written on them. He further said that the ledger book with "N" on it meant that sugarcane was bought and sugar was also made but did not disclose that. He said that a reference was going to be filed against Shahbaz Sharif for fear of which. He has quarantined himself. Shahzad Akbar said that all escape routes are closed for Shahbaz Sharif and he may not be able to go to London.
