The President FPCCI said that the goods of Pakistani traders and exporters have been lying on the border in thousands of trucks for the last several days. Due to which Pakistani traders and exporters are facing severe losses. Despite the opening of the border, the goods of Pakistani exporters are not being allowed to go to Afghanistan, only under the Afghan transit trade, all cargoes are being allowed to go to Afghanistan.
Anjum Nisar further said that the goods of Pakistani exporters at the border for Afghanistan could not be sent to any other country as the traders had already deposited all the payments of these goods including advance income tax and EDF charges in the banks before the lockdown. ۔ He warned that the goods of Pakistani traders at the border consisted of perishable goods including rice, vegetables, eggs, medicines, livestock and poultry feeds, chicks, paints and other miscellaneous items.
He said that the government of Pakistan has opened the border for both Pak-Afghan bilateral trade and Pak-Afghan transit trade for the convenience of traders. There should also be progress in Afghan bilateral trade, which is currently in a state of stagnation.
Anjum Nisar said that the lockdown started due to Corona virus and bilateral trade between Iran and Afghanistan was not closed for a single day while Pakistani exporters were facing severe difficulties and Pak-Afghan bilateral trade was completely closed which was a blow to the economy. ۔ He said that Pakistan Trade Adviser Razzaq Dawood had assured that Pakistan-Afghan border would be operational five days a week. He urged the government to issue immediate notification to the concerned authorities at the border and order them to allow the movement of Pakistani goods to Afghanistan as well.
